Where History Meets Water
Three nights/ Three Days
Day 1
Begin your trip at the Anita Leight Estuary Center. Then it's off to Swan Harbor Farm, a recently restored 18th century home and farm. Unpack you're bags at the Ramada Perryville, where you'll have time to change and rest before you head out for an incredible meal at the local's favorite restaurant, The Bayou, a tradition in fine dining for over 50 years. Make sure you leave room for dessert; their homemade pies are unsurpassed.
Day 2
A deluxe complimentary breakfast starts your day, before you proceed to Historic Havre de Grace. First stop the new Maritime Museum, home of the Boat Building School. You'll visit Concord Point Lighthouse, the oldest operating lighthouse. Then it's a short stroll along the Promenade, a scenic boardwalk that travels along the water edge of the Susquehanna River. You'll visit the Havre de Grace Decoy Museum where you'll experience the works of many fine carvers and learn more about this unique American folk art. A luncheon cruise on the Lantern Queen, an authentic paddleboat, will take you leisurely down the Susquehanna River. But remember you are still in the "Decoy Capital of the World" as you stopover at local carver's shop who will demonstrate the art of decoy carving. You'll enjoy a short-guided tour of Havre de Grace's many fine historic landmarks and finish at Bomboy's Homemade Chocolate's. A sweet ending to a special city. Then it's back to the Ramada Perryville, adjacent to the Perryville Outlet Shopping Center, for dinner on your own.
Day 3
A quick deluxe continental breakfast, before you're off touring again. This time you will start you day at the C&D Canal in Chesapeake City. A guided tour of Chesapeake City takes you through the history of the birth and rebirth of this picturesque town. Lunch at the Chesapeake Inn and then visit its many quaint shops and art galleries. Return to the Ramada Perryville, to relax and change for dinner in Port Deposit, MD.
Day 4
Finally a chance to sleep in: but not for long. Before you head home, you'll have time to visit the Perryville Designer Outlet Shopping Center, featuring such stores as the LL Bean, Liz Claiborne, Jones of New York, Nike and Mikassa. A special coupon book only for groups will save you even more during your shopping excursion.
